About Decloak Music
Personalised one to one online Ableton Live lessons since 2014. Decloak Music is me, Jack Barton.
Hi, I'm Jack
I'm a music producer, former DJ and educator, with over 11,000 hours of one to one teaching experience in Ableton Live. I founded Decloak Music in 2014 after a decade performing across the UK with Manchester's long-standing house and techno collective, Micron.
I've been using Ableton since 2006 and releasing music since 2010. House, techno, garage and experimental music are where I come from, and I teach every electronic genre. My approach is hands-on and tailored. The philosophy is simple: focus on finishing music, keep it fun, and build confidence in the creative process.
From helping complete beginners take their first steps to guiding artists through their debut releases, my aim is to make production accessible and rewarding, one session at a time.
Manchester, Berlin, and now online
Decloak Music started in Manchester in 2014 as a one to one music production school, focused on helping students master Ableton Live. In 2020 it expanded to Berlin, with in-person lessons for the city's community of electronic music producers.
Today the lessons are entirely online, so I can work with producers anywhere in the world, while staying connected to the scenes in Manchester and Berlin where it all started.
Over the years I've worked with hundreds of producers to develop their sound, improve their workflow and find the confidence to make the music they love. Plenty of them now release on labels and play out. You can read about some of them in the news.
